| The Not-For-Profit Difference |
There are many choices when you begin to explore and investigate various
care and service options for long-term care. Since it is such an important
decision, we encourage you to consider all the options and be persistent
in having your questions answered. We believe that not-for-profit
homes offer many benefits because they provide client focused care,
reinvest money into programs and services and operate with only one
goal in mind- the well being of the people who live there.
Choosing a not-for-profit home, means you are choosing a residence
that is developed by local individuals who understand the needs of
the people in their community. These same knowledgeable people are
either appointed or elected to sit on boards and committees of management
to govern the residence and ensure its accounting, human resource
and care provision practices are available to the public. All not-for-profit
residences are accountable to funders, the local community, their
residents, and other stakeholders who support them. Not-for-profit
homes reinvest millions of dollars in donations and government contributions
into services and improvements at care facilities. Tens of thousands
of people, young and old, volunteer their time to help others and
to support the trained professionals caring for seniors who make their
home in a not-for-profit residence.
