Support Services
Social Work
A social worker is available to provide support and counselling to new residents as they adjust to life at Thompson House, as well as to assist with residents' psycho-social needs as required. Our social worker also assists residents with a variety of practical concerns such as pension inquiries, powers of attorney planning and linking with other professional services.

Laundry and Housekeeping
Laundry service is provided free of charge to all our residents. However ironing, mending and dry cleaning are the responsibility of the resident or family. We recommend that residents wear good quality, easy care clothing for their convenience and comfort.

Housekeeping services are provided in each resident’s room and our dedicated staff keep the lounges and common areas tidy and clean for everyone’s enjoyment.

Hairdressing
Our on-site hairdressing salon is open 4 days a week and appointments can be made through the nursing staff or with the hairdresser. Fees are paid directly to the hairdresser at the time of the appointment.

Library
The library, located on the main floor, is available to all residents for letter writing and reading. Copies of the daily newspapers are available for all residents to enjoy and books from the Toronto Public Library are distributed by volunteers every second week. Large print and talking books are also available.

Gift Shop
Our gift shop is located on the main floor and stocks candy, cards as well as small gifts. The shop is operated by dedicated volunteers and is open Mondays through Fridays from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
