TORONTO – DMF for Seniors was pleased to host the Health and Long-Term Care Minister Smitherman in making his announcement of over $700 million that will go towards the provinces new Aging at Home Strategy.

"Our goal is to open a whole world of opportunity for seniors that will offer new lifestyle choices that are reflective of how Ontario’s seniors truly want to live," said Smitherman. The Ontario government will implement the funding over a three year period with over $106 million going towards the Central Local Health Integration Network (LHINs). This funding will be used to address the needs of the local senior population living within the Central LHIN area including Don Mills. DMF for Seniors is committed to providing seniors with a continuum of care and support active seniors living in the community to frail seniors who require full time nursing and personal care services. Through community services like Meals on Wheels, home making, transportation services, landscaping support, day programs and caregiver support programs, DMF for Seniors has enabled many seniors to remain independent while at home and now looks to expand the current services even further.

"Now we have the opportunity to create an amazing community of care for seniors and our aging population. This is the time for great innovation and DMF for Seniors will be on the forefront of implementing first-rate programs that assist seniors in living a healthy and enjoyable life while in the comfort of their own home." said William Krever, President and CEO of DMF for Seniors.

DMF for Seniors looks forward to working with the Central LHIN and other community partners in taking the next steps as part of this exciting government initiative.
